Engraver: Ian Rank-Broadley

Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS is a British sculptor who has produced many acclaimed works, among which are several designs for British coinage.

Engraver: Vladimir Gottwald

Vladimir Gottwald was a member of the Royal Australian Mint's Design and Engraving Section. His portrait, designed following the British Royal Mint's invitation for a new effigy in 1996, was among the three designs submitted to Her Majesty for approval. Although Rank-Broadley's design was eventually chosen, Gottwald's design was approved for a once only use to commemorate the Royal Visit in 2000.

The coins were commemorating 200 Years of Wool Exporting from Australia to the rest of the world.

This was the Uncirculated Set.

This was the Proof Set

The arrival of the Merino Sheep with the First Fleet in 1788 began one of Australia's most successful industries. After the first commecial wool export to England in 1811 it was often said that Australia "Rode on the sheeps back" as wool became the foundation of our burgeoning economy.
