Susan Gamble is a graphic designer and illustrator who studied at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts.
Phebe Hemphill is an American sculptor who works for the United States Mint. She has been called "one of the preeminent coin artists, sculptors, and engravers of our time."

Edge

Engraved with date and both mottos, the edge lettering on Presidential and Native American Dollars can be in Positions A or B. Position A: edge lettering reads upside-down when the portrait faces up; Position B: edge lettering reads normally when the portrait faces up.
