Alexander Andreyevich Ivanov (July 28 (July 16 by the Julian calendar), 1809-July 15 (July 3), 1858) - a classicist Russian painter. His best known picture is a monumental painting entitled "Christ Appears to the People" (The Appearance of the Messiah). From 1831 to 1858 Ivanov lived in Italy.
