This NCLTCopper-nickel 20 cent coin was issued by the RAM in two separate Two Coin Sets. The other coin in the Two Coin Set was a $1 (KM# 1431). The 20 cent was designed by RAM designer Wojciech Pietranik.

The uncirculated coin was also released in an Australia Post PNC.
In 1860 the South Australian government offered a prize to whoever could traverse the Australian continent from south to north first. Explorers Burke & Wills set out to claim the prize. They led a 19 man expedition but only one man survived. This 20 cent coin depicts Burke and Wills on camels and shows camel tracks depicting their route south to north and footprints going in all directions.
