Comments

During the German occupation in World War II, the palm tree mark was used to identify coins minted in the United Sates for use in the overseas territories of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Although this type is listed in the "Standard Catalog of World Coins" as being made of Bronze, official US mint records state that these are made of Copper and Zinc.

For the 1945 P issue, 117,706,000 were minted in 1945 and 82,294,000 were minted in 1946.

Two main groups are known.
