Comments

Cuba had a very rich forest, with a huge variety of species, some only found at the island. Unfortunately, the uncontrolled cutting of trees led to be significantly diminished.
Government politics turned to protect and reforest using local species, under the motto "Planta uno, protege otro" (Plant one, protect other).

The coin shows a group of stylized trees, possibly Flamboyan tree, that can be found only in the island, one Royal Palm, national tree of Cuba, present in Cuban coat of arms, and a man and woman protected under one of them.

Flamboyan tree located at Cienfuegos city.
