John Flanagan (1865–1952)was a sculptor who was known for his designs for coins and medals.
William C. Cousins born in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) the 13 July 1930. Staff sculptor at the Franklin Mint (1967-1990), rose from art director to director of sculpture, where the firm claimed he heads "the largest studio of medallists in the world." He joined the U.S. Mint in 1990 as staff engraver and retired a decade later in 2000.

Reverse

A one-room schoolhouse with a teacher and students planting a tree. The design is based on "Arbor Day," a painting by Grant Wood, who was born near Anamosa, Iowa.
