Comments

The Central Bank of Barbados identifies the bird as a tern (http://www.centralbank.org.bb/banknotes/circulation-coins/cultural-symbols-on-circulation-coins) but this is incorrect as terns have a forked tail.

The Royal Mint coins were struck by two groups of dies for Obverse and Reverse.

Obverse
Die 1 - motto 'PRIDE AND INDUSTRY' bold, all the rest details thin and far from each other.
Die 2 - motto 'PRIDE AND INDUSTRY' thin, all the rest details thick and closer to each other.

Reverse
Die A - letters of the denomination are thin, PN tall, the upper clow next to C in CENTS pointed down.
Die B - letters of the denomination are thick, PN low, the upper clow next to C in CENTS pointed up.

Combinations
Dies 1+A in 1973-1987.
Dies 2+B in 1989-2005 and continued 2006-2018 on Nickel plated Steel planchets (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces19165.html).
