The standard weight of these pieces was 48 to the pound avoirdupois (1/3 ounce or 145.8 grains).
Dies for the final Victoria veiled head issue were engraved by George William de Saulles. The obverse design was copied from a model by Thomas Brock and the reverse was a modified version of the Leonard Charles Wyon design, with the rock and lighthouse removed.

Die 1b (1896-97) T B. under bust (no dot after T), T is lower and smaller.

Sp#3961 (1895-1901) Normal tide Horizon is level with folds in robe and 'P' 1mm from trident;
Sp#3961A (1895) Low tide Horizon is level with hem line of robe and 'P' 2mm from trident;
Sp#3961B (1897) High tide Higher tide level above two folds of robe.
Die A (1895) P of PENNY is 2mm from the corner of the trident.
Die Ba (1897) 10.5 teeth from the 1 to the bottom tip of the 7 in date. 7 skewed counter-clockwise: bottom to tooth, top line at left lower than at right.
Die Bb (1897) 10.5 teeth from the 1 to the bottom tip of the 7 in date. 7 far from 9.
Die Bc (1897) 9.5 teeth from the 1 to the bottom tip of the 7 in date. 7 very close to 9.
Die Bd (1897) 10 teeth from the 1 to the bottom tip of the 7 in date. 7 close to 9.
Die C - as B, but sea level on the right is slightly higher, there is no gap between shield and teeth border.
