Comments

The Lipizzaner is a horse breed from Slovenia, culturally linked to the Spanish School of Vienna. This famous school used only Lipizzaners.

At the end of the 16th century, the armed forces and riding schools of Central Europe were looking for a horse that was both robust and agile. Archduke Charles II, brother of Emperor Maximilian II, founded a stud farm in Lipizza. At the time, Lipizza (now Lipica), in what is now Slovenia, was part of the Austrian Empire.
Alongside the creation of a quality breed of horse, a school for training and developing horses was also established. The famous riding school, the Spanish School, located in Vienna's Hofburg, trained Lipizzaner stallions to perform shows that highlighted the horses' particular movements.Automatically translated
