This coin belongs to the 2007 Series dedicated to the Popes of the 20th Century.
Pius XI: He was the highest authority of the Catholic Church from 1921 to 1939. Known as 'the Pope of the missions' for the reorganization of the pontifical mission works during his pontificate, his greatest diplomatic success was the signing of the Lateran Treaty with Italy in 1929, by which the Vatican City was recognized as an independent and neutral state.
