Script: Latin

Lettering:
FRANCISCO FRANCO CAUDILLO DE ESPAÑA POR LA G. DE DIOS
1963

Unabridged legend: Francisco Franco, caudillo de España por la gracia de Dios

Translation: Francisco Franco, leader of Spain by the grace of God

Engraver: Manuel Marín Jimeno

Manuel Marín Jimeno was one of the great historical figures of the FNMT, a genius engraver and tireless worker, whose career was linked to Tomás Francisco Prieto, Gil and Maura. Manuel Marín Jimeno was already an employee of the Fábrica Nacional in the midst of the Civil War, being expelled in 1939 and reinstated shortly after the end of the war, modifying and adapting the coins designed by Benlliure for General Franco in such a firm and magnificent way that they became the bust of Franco's coins until the 1960s. At the same time he was a founding member of the magazine "La Estampa" (1911-1914), although he did not produce any engravings.

Designer: Mariano Benlliure Gil Read more on Wikipedia

Mariano Benlliure (8 September 1862 – 9 November 1947) was a Spanish sculptor, who executed many public monuments and religious sculptures in Spain, working in a heroic realist style.

Comments

From 1868 to 1982, two dates may be found on most Spanish coinage. The larger date is the year of authorization and the smaller date, incused on the two 6-pointed-stars found on most types, is the year of issue.

Different sources give different mintage. Here the mintage is given by Aledon, the best resource for pesetas.
