Comments

A commemorative edition of the last round £1 coin issued before it's 12-sided replacement was released in 2017. Not struck for circulation but released as part of the 2016 annual Brilliant Uncirculated (22,786 sales) and Proof sets as well as available in an individual BU pack (96,089 sales), the design was also struck in silver proof, silver piedfort and gold proof.

The coin was issued alongside a plaster cast of the new 12-side pound coin as well as every circulating design of the round pound. (128 sales)

The coin was the first coin in the Strike Your Own range at The Royal Mint Experience in Llantrisant, Wales and was available to be struck between 18/05/2016 and 31/12/2016. (40,848 sales)
