Comments

- The East India Company's existing mint rights were confirmed by the new Nawab of Bengal, 28 July 1757. Under the authority signed on 28th July 1757, the mint name was changed from 'Alinagar Kalkatta' to just 'Kalkatta' and the change on the coins was immediate. Specimens were submitted to the Calcutta Council on 8th August 1757. The first issues were struck in the name of Emperor Alamgir II and later, in the name of Shah Alam.
