Comments

The standard weight of these pieces was 48 to the pound avoirdupois (1/3 ounce or 145.8 grains).

1902 reverse die varieties:

Pennies struck early in 1902 used the same reverse die as the veiled head Victoria issue.
This was slightly changed during 1902, resulting in the low tide and normal tide varieties.

KM#794.1, Sp#3990A (1902 only) Low Tide, sea roughly level with hemline, 2 has wavy base line;
KM#794.2, Sp#3990 (1902-1910) Normal Tide, sea roughly level with where legs cross;

We are indebted to Declan Magee Coins and Numista member
Sjoelund for the images below indicating the differences.
