Quarter of a Spanish dollar. The host coin bears the portrait of the king of Spain.
Quarter of a Spanish dollar with a rosette countermark. The host coin bears the coat of arms of Spain between two pilars.
Countermark 5-petalled rosace in circle on 1/4 cut of Spanish or Spanish Colonial 8 Reales. Edges dentilated with dots between leaves. Very rare type - do not confuse with the more common KM# 13 which utilized a 1/5 cut of an 8 Reales.
Struck by order of Governor J. K. Lauffer (1799-1803)
Some coins are countermarked with the same mark, but are a piece of 5 and the host is a coin of Petrus Leopold of Tuscany. This is probably a fake.
