Comments

Australia's first 12-sided 50-cent coin issued into circulation by the Royal Australian Mint (RAM) in 1969 replacing the 80% silver round 50-cent of 1966.
No 50 cent coins were issued in 1967 and 1968.

* Diameter note: 12-sided (dodecagonal) shape - 31.5mm across flats, 32.5mm point to point.

For the variety "two parallel horizontal bars behind Emu's head" for the years 1979 and 1980, this is what you have to look for:

Officially in 1977 only Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee 50 cent coins were struck by the RAM. However, there are 7 known examples of a COA (Coat of Arms) 1977 50 cent coin. These were either minted accidentally or deliberately (Mint Sport). None have been seen for a while and would fetch a very good price in the current market.

Seven Mules are known to exist made from the 1977 obverse and a standard Coat of Arms Reverse.
