Comments

The panda bear is a symbol universally associated with the WWF. This animal, which has been protected since 1939, is also a general symbol for the protection of all species. The Giant Panda lives in small areas of certain provinces of China. These areas are rich in bamboo, which is an important source of food for the Panda. Bamboo forests also offer the pandas a place to sleep. Today, there are about 1600 wild pandas left. Their number was significantly reduced mainly because of the fur trade. The fact that the animals reproduce very slowly, and reproduction rarely succeeds for pandas under human care, makes the giant pandas all the more deserving of protection.
