Coins from the County of Stolberg-Wernigerode

The Counts of Wernigerode had become extinct in 1429 and their lands were inherited by the Counts of Stolberg. On 31 May 1645, House of Stolberg was divided between a senior Stolberg-Wernigerode line and a junior Stolberg-Stolberg line. The county of Stolberg-Wernigerode was made part of the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1807.
