Tauberbischofsheim is a German town in the north-east of Baden-Württemberg on the river Tauber with a population of about 13,200. It is the capital of the Main-Tauber district. It is a popular tourist destination due to the presence of numerous historical buildings, including substantial remains of the Medieval town fortifications. After the First World War, "Stadt" Tauberbischofsheim issued notgeld in response to a severe shortage of currency.
