Coins from an uncertain Zeugitanian city

Following the victory in the First Punic War in 241 BC, Rome placed crippling peace terms on Carthage. As a consequence, Carthage could not raise money to pay their mercenary army, which revolted. The citizens of Libya joined the rebels. SIlver and bronze Shekels were issued by the rebels during the time of the revolt at an uncertain mint. Ultimately, the revolt was ruthlessly defeated by Hamicar Barca.
