How to record rolls (Canada)

Hi There,

How do you record rolls?

Regards,

RURocking
What do you mean by "record rolls"? I am a bit perplexed by the wording of your question.
I think the message is actually concerning rolls of coins, where a roll means possible 10 or 20 of exactly the same coins wrapped in a special paper.
These seem to be available in some countries but I have never seen any in the UK.
I'm just a collector of coins, not a slave to it, unless I am in a coin shop.
For all you banknote collectors. Link to my swap list.

Zac,
Never knew they existed. They do look great though. Where did you get them?

I still don't understand. Do you mean recording yourself coin roll hunting?

To record the roll has part of my collection in numista.

Is it a sealed roll of one date?

Thanks - every one I got from eBay, over many years. The oldest ones are in a red card tube,
then later they came in a brown paper roll, and the more modern ones are in plastic.

Why not register them like this?

I don't know how many coins there are in a roll, 20 is just a guess.
Neither am I sure if all coins a roll are the same date and quality, nor how to find out ;)

Why not do it like this, not to steep up the number of coins in collection:
1 in quantity

and roll of 20 coins, if that's the case.

In the countries, where I've bought rolls, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, France, Mexico etc, the rolls contained all kind of years, the only constant was the amount of coins in the rolls of the same denomination. In the US I've bought rolls of presidential dollars with 25 George Washington and what have you. In France it was possibleto buy a roll of the same commemorative 2 euro coins.

Personnally I can't see the use of collecting rolls, but that's my opinion.

There just needs to be a way of recording "date unknown" for each coin type.

That is what I ended up doing. In my case their are 25 per rolls.

In Canada they are always of the same year, so that is not a problem.

Then just go to the page and the year, and enter 25 as the quantity. In the comments, specify something like "UNC roll - 25 Coins"

I think the quantity should be ONE, not 25, since that's said in "UNC roll - 25 Coins"
