Probably this question requires reference to various Italian catalogs which I do not have.
The coin mentioned in the title has 11 minor variants cataloged in CNI (#31-41). These variants differ in: the letters HE in HERCVLES obv, the spelling of FERRARIE obverse, presence of a thin circle inside the beaded circles obv and rev, the letters ME in MEA reverse, and the presence/absence of a halo on Saint George reverse. CNI does not attribute a date to any of these as far as I can tell
I have seen references to 3 variants in Bellesia (7/A, 7/B, 7/C), and it looks like MIR has just one catalog number (257).
Now my question. In this current auction listing, I see the coins described as "struck 1475."
https://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotviewer.php?LotID=5046230&AucID=5677&Lot=362&Val=449c3d05679a14cf328714d6bc4e6349
I can find several other past auction listings from several auction houses which describe the coin this way (struck 1475), but most use the wider date range. I think that all of the examples that claim the date 1475 have these characteristics:
- conjoined HE in HERCVLES obv
- spelling FERRARIE obv
- conjoined ME in MEA rev
- nimbate St George
- thin circle inside of the beaded circle obv and rev
So I am curious if there is a catalog that attributes the date 1475 to one of the variants?
