Just thinking of two sets that I have been chasing one coin to complete a set.

UK 10 pence Alphabet coin 'A' 2019

I have completed my 2018 set, but this coin is eluding me.

Also, although this is not really part of a set, it would, in my case complete it. The coin in the link is a 1 Crown coin from Tristan da Cunha, but I want the 5 pound coin with the same design. As it is described as "Great British Heroes", I consider it part of my set. I have the 19 (1Crown) coins, so this would complete it. Searched for it for a long long time. It is not on Numista, so have attached the link below,to the 1 Crown coin for reference.

Wow,
That is the first coin of this type I have ever seen for sale.
Still very expensive though, but thanks.

OK 8)
ZacUK,
I bought the coin from the guy in the USA. After a bit of negotiating, he offered it to me for $27.00 + postage.
Thought it was a fair price. What do you think?

As there are not many about (as you found out), seems alright. :)
Now to get that illusive "A" from 2019

Hell to the yeah - have you tried to collect British halfcrowns - 2 years of sweat and hard work to earn enough money to buy 133 different coins and I have barely scratched the surface!

Then the Florins with the Gothics and yet I decide I might start collecting the shillings too!

What is the date when your half crown collection starts? Obviously ending in 1967 or more likely 1970.

Best of luck with the Gothic coins. They must cost a fortune.

My oldest halfcrown is 1635 a Charles I and then all my pre 1816 ones are 1656, 1670, 1687, 1696, 1697E, 1709, 1731 and 1746. Its largely complete for the 1816 onwards, but missing 1817 Bull head, 1823 1st Type G4, 1828, 1839 - 41, 1843, 1846 - 48, 1876/77, 1879, 1884 - 85, 1890, 1892 and finally 1899 and 1965!

I realise the Halfcrowns start with a 1544 gold coin of Henry VIII, or some would say the Quarter Ryal of Edward IV (1470s). But pre 17th century halfcrowns are pretty expensive, rare and hard to get in NZ.

Florins I have a really worn 1849 Godless, then 1852,53, 56 - 58, 70, 72, 73, 74, 75, 79, 82, 83, 86 for the gothics. It again finishes with a 1970. I have every date of Florin from 1887 onwards except 1896, 1902, 04, 05 and 1911.

Just started shillings - so that's even harder starting with a testoon from 1502! However I start with a nice 1820 coin of G3 and then straight to a worn disc from 1882!

That collection of half crowns and Florins must look pretty impressive, especially that you do not live in the UK.
It would be pretty difficult here, so unimaginably difficult in NZ.

You will have to send me a list via a PM, and I will ask my local coin shop friend. It will be great bargaining power for an exchange

Geoff, thanks for the praise

I try my best definitely and many of my Gothics and mid 19th century coins were thanks to an Englishman I met on Coin Community Family who sold me them. Otherwise they are quite easy here as we used English coins until 1933 and many Victorian and late Georgian ones were used here.

Older ones however.....

Update.
It was my Birthday yesterday and although I did not get a present from my wife directly, she did tell me that a 2019 Alphabet "A" was waiting for me at home when we return from our holiday.

The Tristan da Cunha coin, having taken 8 days to fly to the UK, now, for the last 10 days, has been stuck at the USPS facility, with a delivery date of October 5th. USPS must know I am on holiday, as I do not return home until the 2nd October.

On returning from my belated holiday the Tristan da Cunha coin was waiting for me to open. My daughter had the Alphabet coin delivered to her house and I got it yesterday.
Both of these sets are now complete.

Now to start on another set. Tristan da Cunha 2014 World War I Centenary series. I have 13, but have discovered that there are actually 24 in the series, so there must be more out there somewhere. The search starts today.
