Any knowledge of small hammered coins please

4 posts • viewed 113 times

Good afternoon everyone

i have in my possession a couple of very small hammered coins of which I am having great difficulty in trying to identify. I am edging towards North Yemen but as they came in a group of other North Yemen coins but I think I’m completely wrong.
The one in the picture is 1.45g and the pictures are of the obverse and reverse.

The other one is identical but only 0.9g
Does anyone have any ideas to steer my towards the correct country at least.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Arabia Felix, Himyarites. The legend is in Ancient South Arabian script (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_South_Arabian_script).  For a precise identification as there are varying marks/legends on this type, see the following:

NP.  I have a few of these type of coins in my collection, but never bothered photographing them.  Otherwise, it would have been difficult to identify if you don't know…
