Belly dancer token [solved]

6 posts • viewed 105 times

I just pulled this coin out of a 10 pound lot I purchased a year ago. I think it's from the Ottoman Empire, but I don't recognize a date. Could anyone help me to identify?

Diameter: 18 mm

Weight: 0.60 grams

Material: Would be awesome if it was gold, but probably brass.

Looks like km644 but the date is strange…

Cedid Mahmudiye Nisfiyesi - Mahmud II

There are some similar in exonumia, different sizes:

[16mm] N#59212

[21mm] N#198514

Those and yours have 1222 year [۱۲۲۲] and yours has 78 [۷۸] as well.

Belly dancer token.

 Agreed. I added the dates:

Wow! thanks guys for the quick identification.  But you've also crushed my hopes of finding a rare gold coin.
