I bought a small copper token dated 1763 with a rose motif on it. I would very much appreciate it if someone could help me identify who made it.

How have you searched?
Your specimen seems to be in better shape and in copper. Could you take pictures that are a bit more focused and upload them to the page?

I have looked in D and H. I have Googled rose farthing 1763 and looked at the many images that are there.
Any other suggestions?
The images were just from my old android. I can make better ones and post them in a day or two. The token looks a bit worn.
Dear Idolenz - Thank you so very much!!! I would have gone on thinking it was an English rose forever!!
No problem, that's why you start your search with basic things like dimensions, text etc and gradually add to narrow down your search. Don't start with a conclusion you are not certain about (or worse certain but in reality you are wrong π ).

You are correct about starting with the basics but in this case the basics were not getting me much. A diameter of 17 mm and a weight of 1.27 grams and a copper composition does not get me much with Google. And , you may agree that the image on the coin does greatly resemble an English rose. Hence my assumption. In any case, thank you again for your insight!!
This brings up an small issue that I have - the weight of my coin is 1.27 grams which matches the weight in KM but the diameter is 17 mm and KM states 14 mm. You referenced some other authorities (thank you very much) but I do not have them. So, I ask, is the diameter difference simply the result of the use of a different set of dies? Given that the weight is correct, I assume that this is not a pfenning.
Thanks again

Personally I search first with the Numista search engine, when I then don't find anything with multiple search term tries and image search I resort to Google. Like for your example I simply searched with β1 1763 roseβ and it was the first hit (most often not the case).
The older the coins the more variants in size, weight, legend text you have to expect. This of course makes search far more difficult.
For the size discrepancy I can't say much could be an error in KM's documentation a typing error or like said above large differences in coin dimensions especially on low value coinage.
Only one other member reaz, who's pictures are on the coinpage, owns this coin. You could send a message and ask about the diameter of the coin.

Thank you very much!! I was not aware of the existence of the Numista search engine!
Ehm β¦ oh, but it's kind of every where though. I wanted to ask how you've added coins to your collection in the past while overlooking that but it seems you didn't π. Can I ask if you only use the Numista forum?

I don't use much in the way of forums. But, some π are especially useful. You have been very helpful and I appreciate that.
Maybe I am just too busy, or antisocial, to reach out unless I can't answer a question by myself. I do have access to an elemental analysis microscope and have used it to investigate coin composition - that helps me identify some coins.
The information world is so huge that I am not surprised to find parts of it that I have not explored as much as I would like to. I constantly find myself face-to-face with a coin or token that I have no knowledge of - I think that is a large part of why I collect coins - the thrill of the unknown!!
Hear, hear!
I wondered if that avatar picture is from a fluorescence microscope but the resolution was to bad to be sure (now I have my answer ^^).
