I think most of you have as negative point of our hobby the postage costs, year by year they getting higher and for a registered shipping you need a pretty big swap to make that worth. I also noticed that there's a big difference between coutries. Maybe it's nice to make an overview, so we can understand why some people complain about these costs.
For the Netherlands the costs (in Euros in 2013) are as follows:
To. 20-50gr. 50-100gr. 100-250gr 250-500gr. Registered (0-2000gr)
NL. €1,08. €1,62. €2,16. €2,70. €7,70
Europe. €1,80. €2,70. €4,50. €7,20. €9,50
World. €1,90. €2,85. €4,75. €9,50. €16,00

Yes, from Germany it's the same. High costs... and there is no distinction between countries in Europe and other continents.
To: 20-50gr. 50-500gr. Registered (51-500gr)
D: €0,90 €1,45 €3,50
World: €1,50 €3,45 €5,50
because of that I dont agree to swaps when I shall send from 45-85gr.
I'm not orange and also in other things I'm not a Donald at all. DonChori like Don Felipe or Doña María, por favor.

You have chance to have the same price for all the world, in France price is still more, and different for each country (Canada is really expensive) but the airmail is automatic.
A registered mail cost more than 5€ (or more, because we have three levels of security).

Here is a link to the Canada costs. Most letters have to go over-sized mail because it is thicker then a plain envelope. To send it registered there is an addition cost of $14CND to regular postage.

I can say that from the US prices are way higher. I sent two swaps today of about 20 coins each ... One was 12.50$ and the other 14.50$ ... To register something costs a further 12.50$. This is why I've cut down on swap sizes because a small letter is only a couple dollars. This is also why I don't ship registered anymore... It's simply not worth it.

Rest of the World 3,30 EUR 6,00 EUR 10,00 EUR 16,00 EUR
Registered :
Weight -250g - 500g -1000g -2000g
Europe 4,00 EUR 6,00 EUR 10,00 EUR 14,00 EUR

As you can see the difference between regular and registered mail is quite small. So I'm using registered mostly.
