The face value is 2 (maybe Kreuzers) and perhaps the 8 8 is part of a date.
The missing part before DOL could be RV to make RVDOL as in Rudolph?
So maybe the obverse lettering was originally something like this >
[RVDOL · II · ROM · IMP · AVG]
Shame more of the reverse lettering apart from IOAN is there -
also that shield with 1 3 3 1 crosses is familiar but not sure where from.

Well done! Yes that is it.
Now maybe I can work out what the missing reverse lettering is.

Slightly changed
IOHAN(NES) D(EI) G(RATIA) AR(CHEPISCO)P(U)S TR(I)E(R) PR(INCEPS) ELE(CTOR)
so on the coin is
IOAN D G ARPS TRE PR ELE
or similar
and that 8 8 is indeed part of 1588 year.

Lastly, a summary
IOAN D G ARPS TRE PR ELE // RVDOL II ROM IMP AVGV
So the 2 on the coin is 2 Kreuzer (which is also a ½ Batzen)
then 4 Kreuzer is 1 Batzen equivalent.
There is this >
Thanks again to tdziemia 😊

Yes. It appears to be a type that is rare but not valuable.
I've submitted it to the catalog, using the Fruhwald photos and noting that variations in legends are known.
