Did you know that the rarest 50 pence coin is in fact the EEC 50 pence with a mintage of only 109,000
This will be the next one to sell at over the top prices.

Never looked at the mintage, I bought this in a recent lot of 50ps.
Got twenty 50ps, including a lot of Isle of Man 50ps (and a Christmas edition one) for £18.
Also got one of these in a proof set.
Guess I got lucky.
Let's hope the media doesn't catch on.

That's more to do with the fact it is much larger than the other 50 ps in Coin hunt..
Same size as that 1973 proof 50p

Indeed it is being sold for MORE than one can buy the complete proof set of the year (containing the same 50p!)
There's none so stupid as eBayers?

Been after one of these for a long while, and keep getting outbid on ebay as I'm not prepared to pay ridiculous money for one :)

So far I have 4 proof ones, 2 in sets and the others are the silver & silver piedfort proof set. I must check my old 50p's to see if I have a regular circulation one, if not then I'll be looking for one.

Limited stocks of the 1992 EC 50p coin were available on Westminster Collection site recently for £20, but looks like they've sold out already!

I know that Zac. I said it's same size as that one. I don't have photo of the OP one.

I knew that like.. All demonetised coinage is going to be worth more because let's face it we've all bought a circulation coin for over its face value and felt guilty ! Haha
