Are there collectors from Ireland?

5 posts
Hello everybody,

I contact you because I have got 2 questions:

- What’s the reference book for the collecting of the Irish coins? I have read in the “Numisdoc” section that it could be the: “Coin Yearbook 995-2000 from John W. Mussel”
Are you agree with this or are there others better references books?

- I have got friends who go to Dublin in 2 weeks. I have asked them to  buy me that reference book. I wanted to know if you can please advise me shops where they could surely find this book? Because I check on Google and I don’t trust the informations found…

Thank you very much in advance for your feedback. Have a nice day!
Yes there is, I have had a couple of swaps from Ireland.
I live in Ireland, but far from Dublin. There is a shop called Cathedral Stamps in Dublin just off O'Connell street in centre sells coins alongside stamps and they might have this book.
Google for "Cathedral stamps Dublin", maybe you can contact them and ask if they have it and what they charge and what other books they have.
Waterstones bookshop would be a good place to take a look at for this book too.
irishcoinage.com is excellent for information on pre-euro Irish coins
Hi , Spink have a book, 'Coins  of Scotland Ireland and the Islands ' last published in I think 2003 that will cover all Irish coins, from really early hammered up to just pre decimal.
