With the help of three excellent exchanges that have been completed and coins received over the last few days, my total of coins listed on the Numista website has passed 14,000.
Many thanks to all of the collectors, where ever you live, who have helped me reach this target, especially as I only collect by type.
Hope we can continue on this endless path of collecting.

Congratulation! Indeed it's a nice achievement. :`
Wow! That are a lot of coins. I am just over 2300. But just realized that since joining Numista I doubled my countries from 125 to 250 in just under two years.
That's amazing, congratulations!
My collection is just a little baby right now, under 100 I think, under 200 for sure. z)
Congratulations....now on to 15,000! ;)

Don't worry, mine is around the same :) Not sure I'll ever reach 1000, though I'd like to! 14,000 is simply a pipe dream; it'll never happen.
I now own a bit over 5300 types of world coins, circulation types only. By now the average price of new additions has risen to 5 to 10 EUR.

For me 14,000 types is very impressive!
Well into my next 1,000 coins, Neil. Total now at 14,009. Looks like three more exchanges will be finalised by end of the week.

Congratulations sir!
Library Media Specialist, columnist, collector, and gardener...
Wow that's some fete !
I pale greatly in comparison in 4 years of serious collecting I've only amassed 2400. Congratulations sir I am in Awe of your collection and also your ability to catalogue that many I would have taken more than I've been collecting just to enter that many haha !
Congratulations on your achievement!

It's amazing that anyone would be able to amass a huge collection like that. It's taken me 3.5 years to go from 800 to 2200 types. Even if my collection kept growing at that rate, it would take another 30 years to catch up!
HoH
Is there a trick to finding coins that other people would like to trade for? If Numista helped you collect 14,000 coins, one must assume that you also had many thousands to swap out. I have around 1,600 coins posted for swap but haven't had any offers in a couple months.
I had many thousands before I joined Numista, so my statement was how you collectors helped me reach the total of 14,000, not exchanged them all. I still buy coins from local dealers and fairs plus a few private swaps using my website where the collectors are not on Numista, although I have certainty told them about it.
I could go and add up all of the swaps I have done but that is not the point. It was to thank Numista members for helping me get to the target.
Later edit.
I have enough problems trying to find places for the coins I have, so where I would put thousands of swap coins I cannot imagine

Indeed, Numista has been an amazing experience for me as well! The people who put together this site and keep it running, and the wonderful community of collectors and swappers make this one of my favorite sites on the Internet.

Thanks Numista!

14.000 coins are a lot of them, congratulations.
I do believe that it's a challenge to find a place for all those coins, but what ever you do, don't forget to enjoy what you're doing!
Cents are money too!
I started collecting when I was eleven years old, but did not take a great deal of notice at the time. Over the next few years, my collection grew slowly and all of the coins were put into a tin. Once I started work, I had a little money to spare, so purchasing of coins began. I also obtained my first album, into which all of my coins were.
Then appeared an epiphany. My first Krause catalogue and my coin collecting changed overnight.
I now needed to sort out my coins as they were all mixed up. At this time I only had 1,500 coins
So, I firstly sorted into continents, then into countries. Now, how to add to a database. So, I decided to use a globe.
Stating with Jersey at number 1, as it is closest to the UK, then onto Guernsey I went around the world until ended up in New Zealand at number 78.
New countries were then added as I obtained them, and I now have 308. My database does not follow the list as shown on Numista. Some of my 'countries' are listed in Numista as tokens or exonumia, but to me they are countries. Russia on my database is one country, not as Numista, so some I gain and some I lose.
Ihad over 12,000 coins before I actually got around to loaded them onto Numista, but have not regretted the time spent doing it.
When it comes to exchanges, this is the easiest way of doing it, so am continuously looking for other swap partners.
I think the older I get, the more I seem to enjoy it. The enjoyment and excitement of opening packages from around the world is still amazing, especially with new types of coins being produced, such as enamel and colour.
Well, I think you have my life history now, so will now bore you anymore. Have to take the wife out shopping (boring)

Congratulations! <:D

Let me emphasize that more than 1100 of those 14 000 were not on numista and you added them all! Many thanks!
Catalogue administrator
Jarcek,
I think it is a team effort. I have them and you need them added. Problem over. I also need the services of some outstanding reverees, of which, you are certainly one.
Let's keep the team work going

Try to make shopping a mutually-pleasurable experience by including a stop at the local coin shop. :)

Yes, I agree. My wife is quite happy to come with me as she obviously knows of my obsession with coins.
Over the years, she has bought me some super coins for my birthday and Christmas. Now it is a bit more difficult as she does not know which ones I have. I sometimes have a bad memory remembering 14,000 different coins, so my wife has no chance.
I do not blame her for not getting any now, but she would willingly buy a coin with me at the shop, whereas before, she was an expert in keeping it perfectly secret from me.
