Your 2nd mention is a great place.....its '' shipwreck-coins'' once you click on the link. I buy from them often.
Little slow as far as transit times, since they are in Portugal, but that could be and most likely is the mail system.
great packaging and always a bonus coin......highly recommend.

I have also purchased coins from "Shipwreck" In fact I have two coins from them in transit now. I have always been pleased with my purchases from them.

Just had a long look at some of Shipwreck Coins items. I'm probably going to pick a few up later, he's got a great selection of stuff. I only wish I had heard about him before the value of the pound dropped, could have saved a fortune.

Not a huge selection like Shipwreck, but this guy always has something interesting (on my quest for 300 countries).
Fairly priced with excellent description (rim dings, spots, etc.)

You guys are making very hard for me. Iam a non-E-Bay coin collector. And showing these great sites with there nice coin makes me want to start buying coins off the net. But I think iam about the last of us who do not buy off the net

The idea of the thread was to give information to new collectors. Most of us that buy off the net know of a few good places to go that we know we can trust to give us good coins at a reasonable price.
Those that are just starting off may not know of who to trust. e-bay has so many sellers that it can be quite overwhelming to search through, this will give them a couple of starting places to look because they know that some experienced collectors know and trust them.

They are from Puntland ...
2015 'Cats of the world' 25 Shillings >
African golden, Fishing cat, Geoffroy's cat, Iberian lynx, Margay, Ocelot, Sand cat, Serval.
I think there are ten in the series. Missing the Bobcat and Siamese coins.
I got them as they are bi-metal, and they are cats!
EDIT: Just now bought the last two, to complete the set hopefully ...

Thanks for the information here.. As someone who has a limited budget to spend on coins , I feel it will give me a chance to get value for money. As in general prices on eBay are inflated. I collect bi metallic coins - the cats are great what country are they from.

I haven't had as many bad experiences on eBay as I would have thought. Sometimes the orders are slow or the shipping cost is too high, but it has generally been a very positive experience for me.
Occasionally, the experience has been exceptional. Some sellers go the extra mile.
I think these three are especially worth mentioning. Send them some business, they deserve it:

We have been on eBay since September 1997. I hope that you will visit, if only to enjoy my wife's photography. We provided enough photographs and sales data to Krause that I was listed on the Acknowledged Contributors page for several of their catalogs.

Krause made some very arbitrary radical price decreases in their more recent catalogs, and I have not followed some of them. (Some of their prices have even below silver melt value.) Read the comments that Frank Robinson has written in his pricelist and in a World Coin News article.
I have contributed data to the personnel at Krause Publications for years, and even had dinner with some of them at my house, during CICF. Recently, their staff has been severely reduced, and they are too thinly staffed for their task of updating coin prices for over 400 years of coin issues.
I have had nearly 47,000 transactions on eBay for which I have received feedback; I would not have survived if my pricing were that unrealistic. (The rating of 25,909 does not include all ratings--eBay used to tally only one rating per Buyer. Look on the feedback detail page for the more complete total.)
Keep in mind that, at best, the pricing in a Krause catalog is based upon what someone (on whom Krause relied) reported to Krause at some time (and some pricing has not been changed for many years). It does not change quickly--they totally missed any pricing changes for the surge in the pricing of Thai coins during the last Christmas season. If every dealer always priced their coins below Krause, and then Krause reduced its pricing for those sales, the theoretical result would be that all catalog prices would always decline. That is not reality.
Pricing of many of the coins in the 1600-1899 date range are simply not available at Krause catalog values, even on the wholesale market. If I have to pay more than Krause to acquire the coin, I will not be bound by Krause in establishing a sales price.
I do not use Krause to price U. S. coins (I have seen too many prices that have, at times, been below Greysheet Bid.) I use Coin World Trends as a guide.
Pricing of Pobjoy Mint products has, at times, been based on bulk "dumping" prices, that were even below Pobjoy wholesale pricing. That is not realistic.
If you are wanting to buy coins for 10-25 cents each, you will not find them in my listings. Costs of shipping supplies, eBay and PayPal fees, and time and effort make that level of pricing impossible--even if the catalog price were accurate. (How accurate is the catalog pricing, if someone buys a coin for $2 and then requests Registered Mail shipping that costs $16?) I would rather offer the coin, at a sustainable price, than not make it available.
If you see a price on a coin that you feel is overpriced, make a serious counteroffer.

In the end, it comes down to how your prices compare to other dealers'. If that comparison is not in your favor, they (potential buyers) will likely choose to take their business elsewhere.

On that point I totally agree, which makes me question why your comment "higher than Krause" implied that my pricing was improper. For what it is worth, a large percentage of my prices are Krause catalog or lower. There are five Krause catalogs beside my chair, and one of them is open to the last coin that I listed on eBay:
2001-date, 11th edition, 2017
1901-2000, 45th edition, 2018
1801-1900, 8th edition, 2015
1701-1800, 6th edition, 2013
1601-1700, 6th edition, 2014
Unusual World Coins, 6th edition, 2011
At least two price points are normally considered when I price at coin: the price at which I last sold that coin (and how recently), and the Krause catalog price (unless, as I explained earlier, it is a U.S. coin). At times, I also search eBay to see how competitors are pricing the same coin, and I also consider the information I have gathered from recent coin shows. If my pricing is not comparable to Krause, I have to be ready to justify the difference.

You would not be advertising here if you were satisfied with the number of sales your pricing currently generates.
Edit: What attracts people to E-Bay is 1) the selection, 2) being able to shop from the comfort of their home, and 3) auctions with low starting prices. While you are excelling in 1) and provide the benefit of 2), you are utterly failing in 3). People are
not looking for BIN or auction listings with starting prices at or above the retail price listed in catalogs, with an additional s&h charge slapped on top of that. You, the seller, might consider that kind of pricing proper, but your client base will remain limited to those who don't mind paying a little extra to get what they want. What
most collectors operating on a limited budget are looking for is listings with a low start price. Low enough that the final price is determined by the buyers, not the seller. Listings that result in a sale the first time they are posted, not something that gets relisted time and again and only serves to clutter up search results. That is how ufomechanix operates and that is why he is on the most-popular list and you are not.

When I first restarted my coin collecting one of the first E-Bay dealers I bought from was Johnny Ray.
https://www.ebay.com/usr/johnray47?_trksid=p2053788.m1543.l2754
He usually has a nice selection, seems knowledgeable (when he calls a coin AU or XF in most cases it is), and with few exceptions the price has always been right. Matter of fact he is the gentlemen that introduced me to the Numista Web Site.
I still stop by his store and checkout his selection occasionally. He may not always have something for me but he always has something for somebody. Some of you younger collectors on a strict budget should check him out.

eBay is great, but I have had some trouble from some of the sellers there. One seller is trying to tell me that a coin I purchase from him has arrived and that I have it, when I know for damned sure I don't have it. When I won a German coin for an absolute steal in an eBay auction, the seller sent me an email saying he'd "lost it"and so that was that. He gave me a refund, but I bet I see that "lost" coin again up for auction one of these days.
I'm currently in a fight with another seller from Germany who's two coins to me are now two weeks overdue. Both are rare coins and (once again) one of them I got for a bargain price in an auction, a nice 1946 F 10 pfennig. I'm quite sure they won't arrive as I am also quite sure they were never sent. Once again... Lost in the mail perhaps?
I suppose I will get my money back (hopefully), but it is annoying.

Getting your money back from PayPal or eBay should never be a problem, if you file the "Item Not Received" notices on time. They bend over backwards to take the money out of the Sellers' accounts, even if the Buyer has not given the postal system enough time to deliver the item!
To be fair, the postal system/Customs can be incredibly slow (although I have generally had little trouble with USA/Australia shipments). I did, however, mail a Registered shipment to Russia on September 15 one year, and the Buyer received it on December 30!
I am not sure how long your "two weeks overdue" shipment has been in the mails, but I will tell you that my international shipping insurer does not permit me to file a claim until an international shipment has been in the mails for 45 days. (Generally, though, international shipments take about 7-10 days from the USA.)

I see it's been a long time since any entries were added here, so here's a few dealers I've frequented on Ebay:
https://www.ebay.fr/usr/maison-palombo?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2754
Maison Palombo, pretty standard; I mainly snap up the cheap stuff no one else bid on.
https://www.ebay.fr/usr/medailles38?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2754
Deals primarily in medals, not coins, but has some pretty great stock
https://www.ebay.fr/usr/73monnaies?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2754
Great deals, Extremely good shipping, recommended
https://www.ebay.fr/usr/barizey?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2754
Another great seller I've bought from multiple times, also recommended

Here's a few I've had positive dealings with:
Tad's Collectibles
https://www.ebay.com/str/tadscolleclibles
Sin-n-Dex Coins
https://www.ebay.com/str/sinndexcoins
Liolikas
https://www.ebay.com/str/liolikascoinsmore
FotuMor
http://www.ebaystores.com/FortuMor?_rdc=1
The last is mainly a banknote dealer, but does have great prices for notes and shipping.

I'm sorry it has come to this, but I have to withdraw my endorsement of ufomechanix. After buying over a 100 coins from him over the last 4 years, ranging in price from just a couple bucks to over $100, it seems our relationship has come to an abrupt end.
Here is what happened:
I won one of his auctions on June 23. The page had "This seller is currently away. If you make a purchase, there may be a delay in processing your order" on it. Ok, that's fine, I thought. I've bought from him many times before, so if I have to wait an extra week, it's not gonna be a problem. So, I paid for the coin and he provided a tracking number the following day. Over the next 2 weeks, I won several more of his auctions and all of those coins were delivered very quickly, despite the "seller is currently away" message. Yet, the one from June 23 never came and the tracking number showed no activity -- not even that USPS had it. On July 8, I tried to contact him. He had until July 12 to respond, but never did. So, on the 12th, nearly 3 weeks (15 business days) after I paid, I escalated the issue to E-Bay and was immediately issued refund. Left neutral feedback with a brief summary of what happened. Well, I guess that was my big "mistake", because when I tried to bid on one of his auctions today, I got this:
"Sorry, the seller is not accepting bids or offers from you at this time."

Sad that our store isn't on here, but we don't do the volume of many of the people you said. I also don't want to put our store on here as some sort of advertisement.
UFO is great, but all of you guys are pushing prices up beyond what we are willing to pay. Stop it! ;)
Thanks for the great list of sellers guys!

I have been really happy with
holding_history
They almost always have accurate descriptions (when they haven't, it has been an honest mistake). They ship fast, and have always seemed very organized to me. I have gotten some good deals on their weekend auctions.

Re: some of the comments above... I have bought quite a few coins from E and L Freeman, and have always been happy with the descriptions, shipping, price and service. EBay isnt all scoundrels :) You can certainly find better deals, but I will always go back to sellers I know I can trust.

I know how you feel, the guy is a business oriented machine - no customer friendliness and if you cross him (i.e give anything other than positive feedback) he stops you from bidding on his coins ever again! Full stop, even if he is at fault - which he often is. Unfortunately for those that he has given the cold shoulder to, he has many many more customers who keep his business ticking over.
The only option you have is to get a new email address and a second EBay account - how you want to rate him from that account is up to you.

With eBay, I've found it best to search for the specific coin (s) that interest you rather than depending on an entire "store" to have everything you want.
One you find a coin, notice how experienced the seller is, and whether his customers have given him a good score. It's very self-policing over here (there too, right?) and sellers generally go the extra mile to keep customers happy. It's in their self interest.
Of course, not all sellers using the U.S. eBay site will ship internationally. Only the big ones... which tend to be more expensive.
Enjoy the journey!

I am interested in purchasing a small lot (10-20) of Roman Imperial coins.
I want them uncleaned, as dug up, so that I can practice my conservation techniques.
Prefer better than average condition, and will pay accordingly.
Any leads are appreciated.
Thanks.

I have been operating my own small eBay store since 2015, I deal only with foreign coins, mostly European, I think I have something for all price ranges. I used to do a Numista members promo, give a free coin to Numista members purchasing from me. Might consider to re start it again.

Hi I thought I would add my list of coin dealers that I have used more than once and have sold me something as pictured/described, well packaged, quickly and at a reasonable price, I live in England so all these dealers are from here, I have no affiliation with any of these sellers, sorry there is so many of them but I shop around a lot looking for the hard to find items I am sometimes after.
This is a lady called Helen, she was really good, patient and helpful when I was ordering stuff and ordered the wrong item, very nice items again and as described
https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/thickenhelen
Next is a chap (can't remember his name) username on ebay oveets, has some lovely items at low starting bids, when I won a coin at a really low price I half wondered whether or not it would be 'out of stock', but he messaged me straight away and posted it the next day, coin was beautiful and well packaged.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/oveets?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2754
Next is another chap, username castironred, sold me a superb unc coin that was better than pictured, quick dispatch too, infact all these sellers have despite the corona outbreak
https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/castironred?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2754
This seller has some stonking mint condition british pre 1945 coins in from time to time, very well priced and lovely items, up for a haggle sometimes.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/gw.coins?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2754
Next is Greg, who I think is Polish but living now in the UK, very helpful, very well priced and a very varied selection of world coins, era's and grades.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/grzegorzs73-uk?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2754
Next is Richard, good pictures and descriptions, some very nice condition coins, and quick dispatch.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/richardgrovesworldcoins
And finally this chap who I cannot remember his name, username nabadols1 on ebay, sent me a stunning item which arrived 4 days before it was estimated, should of marked him down on the description as he did not mention the lovely original lustre still on the coin that was hard to see in the pictures of the item I bought.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/nadobols1
And thats it so far, there is a couple more dealers that I have bought items from and am waiting for them to arrive, so I will update this list if they are good enough for here.

As far as this thread goes, it seems like any eBay store in any region is fair game.
As far as my request about shipwreck, I have no idea where they are based, other than that their shop is on eBay, and I can't find a working link.

As I am downsizing my collection and focusing on higher grade more expensive coins I have decided to start selling a lot of my collection on eBay. I sitll have thousands of coins not listed which will keep me busy for months. I have only yesterday decided to try the store feature on eBay which means I can categorise and make it easier for customers. Please check out my shop and let me know your honest opinions / what improvements could be made :)
Thanks for your time!

Hi
Can anyone recommend any Ebay sellers or coin shop sites please that sells bulk world coins and notes because most I’ve seen sell common coins or are overpriced compared to the coins in their lots. Also my requirement is that they are located mainly in Europe and the U.K. but I don’t mind if the lot is really special and cheap if they are located in the in North America.
