Soo...I am playing with my Brazilian coins...and I had an epiphany... the Krause and Numista have a .1 and a .2 variety based on wavy lines that appear around the 5 on the obverse.
I looked closely at these wavy lines and had to laugh. These wavy lines correspond to the hair of the effigy on the other side of the coin! This series has a sub type because we have called a run of the mill die clash as a type!
Krause and Numista are wrong. Arent they? Tickles me that its been in the catalog and not attributed as a clash...

According to the catalig and to the 5 examples in my collection, the coin is of a coin alignment. So when I am looking at the image of the lady right side up, she is on the right side of the coin. When i flip the coin top to bottom, the 5 is then on the right side of the coin. So it is correct that the wavy lines are the clashing of the hair on the 5.

Hi,
I'm in Normandy playing my favorite game (golf) and all my coins are in Paris.
I think, that Michel is right and admittedly I never thought about his theory before. I just thought it was a strange phenomena, but Michel superimposed images makes sense! Maybe he can even mirror turn the face side to show it even better? Peux tu tourner la face de visage en mirroir? C'est possible, n'est ce pas, Michel? Comme ça c'est plus visible! The French is for Michel.....
