Is "Bitrex" Safe for Coins? [solved]

5 posts
I have recently had a bit of trouble with PVC coin albums (https://en.numista.com/forum/topic63062.html), the coins haven't been damaged yet but I would like to prevent any damage at all. I went to buy some acetone to clean the coins, but the closest to pure acetone that I could find contained 1% "Bitrex", a trade name for denatonium or denatonium benzoate. Is it safe for coins?

Also, is there any rush to remove the PVC? The coins have only been in the albums for a few weeks.
You can get Acetone in beauty supply stores as nail polish remover. Just make sure that it is pure.
pure acetone is available from pharmacies
we do not own our coins, we are merely guardians of them for future generations.
Yes indeed - I got my small (coin shown for size) bottle (50ml) from a pharmacy.
Cheap price too.
I have to clean about 200-300 coins, how much acetone will I need? How often will I need to change it?
