What happens if say bullion rises or falls or the coins value changes by the year?

This gonna be awesome! But is this for the coin in general or for the specific year?

When I 'edit' it just goes to the top of the page, good point though, not everyone shall have each coin but you could average sale prices on the internet/catalogues

Yeah, the quick and easy way to add coins became quite inconvenient. I want the old add a coin system back, and the new "menu" should be for value only.

So my questions are:

When I get my coin for $0.50 from a junk bin, and it's worth $200, do I add my value as $0.50? That would skew values.

Second, can I add rare coin auction results for coins that very few people would ever own?

I wouldn't use purchase price but instead research the coin get its average price as I could buy a coin for 1p and it could be worth £5 or buy a coin at £100 and it could be worth £3

For me that would be my lives work, since I have 7,000+ coins. 5 minutes per coin equals 35,000 hours. There are 8,760 hours per year, so I would need 4 years - if I sat with it 24/7. I'm not willing to do that, sorry.

But it is actually interesting to know for how much a coin "should cost" in average. Say I find a nice coin for $40, but if the average payed priced by Numista users is $28, it could give me a hint to look for a better price.

Good question;

I've been adding the purchase values for coins in my collection; most are around catalogue value or a reasonable price so I don't think too much has been skewed, but I had a dilemma regarding coins I got for 1/2 their 'real' value. I'd be happy to remove them if requested but I don't think I've done too much damage.

This also concerns the novice members who find a cast Flowing Hair Dollar fake in a flea market for €5 and add '€5,00' to their collection; this would be basically like the values version of the problems with NRI.
Quote: "nthn"When I get my coin for $0.50 from a junk bin, and it's worth $200, do I add my value as $0.50? That would skew values.

In such case, the value ($200) or nothing (blank).

The $0.50 value is only due to the junk bin selling format; if the seller sorts/identifies coins properly before selling as junk bin I doubt he'll still sell it for $0.50.

The $200 value could be entered, it add a value in a way equivalent to an auction price used in the value calculation.

In theory if it was my coin: a blank value. Hopefully, other members will enter values and combined with auction values this would give me a more accurate value of the market without my value affecting it. But this is still theoretical as calculation is not 100% perfect and relies on the fact other members will have the coin and enter a value.

Each coin is worth as much as the buyer is ready to pay for it.
For the same coin, the price anywhere can be very much different.
Calculation of average or median is the road to nowhere.
Krause and common sense is the best value option for a coin.

Common sense, I give it to you (who would not). But then no need for Krause (giving a single value without differentiation of market either) if each coin is worth only what a buyer is willing to pay.

Keep in mind that values here are not intended to give selling price, only an information/idea/value whatever you want to call it.

No offense but if you don't like/want the values, then you may just ignore them and not participate in the calculations I guess.

I am not amused with the new update. I've lost all of the detail on Position A versus Position B on the US Commemorative dollars. For those who collect this variety, it is a step back

Aarrgh and sigh....

Not related to the update.
Positions A and B were merged before the update.

I like the addition of value but, like i said before, to add coins to your collection is kinda inconvenient right now. I really liked how fast and simple I could add coins.

Completely agree!

I've heard talk about how the old version layout may be brought back as an option for those who don't like the new systems.
I am missing THE SIMPLICITY OF THE OLD VERSION .It was Quick and easy. This new value thing will be a mess specially in Swaps. This value thing make coin collection more like a building bank balance and doing business minus Hobby and fun in collecting coins.
coin collector.....
Hello'
I entered "Kuwait 20 Fils 2005 " to my coin list and put the coin for exchange.
It shows by Total:0 and to Exchange 1,
it should show Total:1 and exchange:1
the same when i entered 1 coin to United Arab. Emirates.
Can someone please fix it . It does it everytime if i enter a coin and the same coin for exchange.
All other entrees to the new List are Correct . Thank you

I looked at my settings but could not find a mark for the old version.
Could you give me a hint, please.

Thank you, Jarcek
Too bad that the new version is not working right, it shows always "totel :0" when I enter a coin and put it to exchange. Now I am back to the old version. I still hope that someone can make the new version working right for me. So I will continue to put my coins into the old version.
Thank you again.

That was useful, reverted to the old display, but now my collection is full of zeros where I have no coins entered.
Ex.: VG 0 - F 1 - VF 0 - XF 0 - UNC 0.
On "my coins" list only, not on the individual coin profiles.
Edit.: it was fixed on the following day.

For the update, showing values is interesting, but for entering coins I prefer the old system (so simple and easy).
Thank you ADMINs to bring back the Old version with this button,Truly appreciate you effort and taking Things Positively!
I truly believe this Old Good layout is a Trademark for Numista WebSite. Its simple approach is Great to work with. THANK YOU .Xavier

Is there a way to search for your coins that have a public comment listed? (Not a list of your collection and then sort it in excel.) I want to change some comments from public to private.

I guess you would need to make your collection public for some time in order to find those comments.
