Plate error???

5 posts

Can anyone please tell me if this is a plate error or if not does anyone know what it is?

Thanks in advance,
Michelle
Hello,

First, what do you mean by plate error?

At any rate it's not an error but post mint damage (PMD), so it is of no value. If the coin was rare, then it might sell as a space filler, but even without knowing what denomination this is (5 centimes?), I'm pretty sure it's a common coin.

You hit the nail right on the head there!

Even if it's the 10, or 2, or even the 1 centime (unlikely), in that condition + the PMD it's probably worth less than 1€.
I checked right now and none of the bronze coins dated 1854 with Paris mintmark "A" is rare. In this low grade, even without PMD it would be worth less than 1€.
