Hi,
please don't! Even the no longer "existing" KM has not done that, so why would we?
As far as I know, Denmark, should be Danmark,
Finland should be Suimi
Sweden should be Sverige
Norway should be Norge
etc, etc, NO WAY!
Let's keep the official English names as long as possible!!!

The CIA (whatever you may think of them, they are experts at gathering information) considers the official English name to be "Eswatini"; it is not merely a name in the original language. Sjoelund's argument does not apply since it applies to local names but we have been through this before. Cape Verde should be referred to as Cabo Verde and Ivory Coast should be referred to as Cote d'Ivoire in English per these countries' requests and CIA usage. Czechia is the official short form English name since 2016 for the Czech Republic, per Wikipedia, and is used by the CIA.
I consider such changes no different from the changing of Macedonia to North Macedonia. We do use Myanmar instead of Burma (though the CIA still uses Burma) and Timor-Leste instead of East Timor. We use Sao Tome and Principe instead of St. Thomas and Prince.
My own preference would be to declare a source (such as the World Factbook) for English names of countries and to follow that instead of undergoing constant arbitrary debate.

Hi,
and on the coins, what is written? Swaziland or Eswatini? If still Swaziland, don't change, whatever CIA might say!
Anyway, you'll have to leave the TWO different country names in your search criteria.

I don't really catch this game!
If the people in said countries don't care about CIA, or they would change their country name on their coins, why do we want to know better about the name of their country?

So until then there is no real hurry. We can wait for the first coins to enter circulation before changing anything, right? I just wonder if there is a South Macedonia as well?

There is one thing i don't understand and hope NUMISTA Team will dispel my doubts.
Macedonia issues coins under old name but changed name to Norh Macedonia
result in Numista : name changed
Swaziland issues coins under old name but changed name to Eswatini
result in Numista : sill old name
Can someone from NUMISTA Team can explain to me ?
Both names Eswatini as well as North Macedonia are English names.

Any clue why the CIA refers to Myanmar as Burma? Vendetta against the country? I know from being in Thailand that many Myanmar people are offended if asked if they come from Burma. I think due to the fact that many people now were born under the name Myanmar. It's interesting though that their language is still referred to as Burmese. I wonder if USA media still uses Burma because of CIA? All of the banknotes from across the border say Myanmar. Maybe the CIA has not actually seen any? Lol!!

There has not been any coins under the name of 'eSwatini' yet.
Only those coins that will bear the name of 'eSwatini' should be listed under that name.
All the other coins should remain listed under 'Swaziland'.

At the end of the day it's all the same, since "North Macedonia" includes "Macedonia", so I suppose all the coins from before "North Macedonia" will also be renamed to country "North Macedonia"????
I just tested this, and yes, Macedonia doesn't show up anymore!!!!! It's all in "North Macedonia". One would think that "North Macedonia" has existed since 1993! Is that an intended effect?
You know, the referees are playing 'God' with history now. I'm not sure I agree to that at all?

Tha is why i think best solution is what i wrote as above :
North Macedonia
- issuer Macedonia
Eswatini
-issuer Swaziland
others example:
Canada
Canada
Canadian provinces
Newfoundland
Benin
Benin
Dahomey
Russia
Khorezm People's Soviet Republic
Livonia and Estonia
Russia
Russia - Empire
Russian Caucasia
Siberia
Soviet Union (USSR)
Tannu Tuva
Tatarstan
What i dont know how "simple" this is for numista search engine.

Agree! In February 2019 FYR Macedonia changed name to North Macedonia, and soon after the name was changed here, even though there are yet no coins, or banknotes, were it says Република Северна Македонија (Republika Severna Makedonija), still the name is changed here.
In April 2018 Kingdom of Swaziland changed its official English name to Kingdom of eSwatini. In April 19 2018 a 200 Emalangeni banknktes was issued where it was printed CENTRAL BANK OF eSWATINI on the back. Still the name is not changed here. The question is why. Because people don't "feel like it"? Can you be more ignorant and disrespectful than that?

Swaziland - eSwatini
Nagorno-Karabakh - Artsakh
FYR Macedonia got changed to North Macedonia like the same day. What's the problem?

Hi,
the problem is about search, technicalities and finding the issuer. That has nothing to do with politics, CIA naming, etc.
As written few times above, once it will be possible, the change will be done; as of now, it is not.
Macedonia was changed because there is no such problem: typing Macedonia you will find both with or without North. This is not the case for your 2 examples where the wording is totally different.

Only coins inscribed 'ESWATINI' should be under 'eSwatini' - namely the 2018 10 Cents only so far.
All the other coins should be under 'Swaziland'.
The first coins under the name of 'Myanmar' are dated 1991 - but all the others prior to that should be under 'Burma'.
The same thing applies to the banknotes as well.
Aidan.

I don't see why we suddenly change the names of historical eras of countries having issued coins under the old name before the countries have been renamed. Compare this to Ceylon/Sri Lanka, Rhodesia/Zimbabwe, Yugoslavia/Serbia.
Not to Burma/Myanmar, these are just different English names, like Ivory Coast/Côte d'Ivoire
Quote: "BCNumismatics"The first coins under the name of 'Myanmar' are dated 1991 - but all the others prior to that should be under 'Burma'.
Actually?
This 1966 coin
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces1649.html
and the coins from 1991 have:
1966: ပြည်ထောင်စု
မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတော် ပြည်သူ့ဘဏ် "Union of Burma, People's Bank"
1991: ပြည်ထောင်စု
မြန်မာနိုင်ငံဘဏ် "Union Bank of Myanmar"
Myanmar is, according to Wikipedia:
ပြည်ထောင်စု သမ္မတ
မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတော် Pyidaunzu Thanmăda Myăma Nainngandaw "Republic of the Union of Myanmar"
so the name of Burma, Bama, Myama or Myanmar has always been မြန်မာ
Used time zone is UTC+1:00.
Current time is 22:59.
