I have a 1926 George V half crown, I'm trying to ascertain which effigy type it is, also if anyone could give a hint at the grade - thank you.

Hi,

you just have to count unfortunately. I didn't find any easier difference.....

Thanks, looks like mines KM#828.2. Or should that be 818.2 in your picture ?
Yes, yours is KM#818.2 which is the first type, not the modified effigy.
The way I tell is the : after BRITT where the first type has it
pointing between teeth, and the second type has it pointing at a tooth.
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces21964.html First type (1920-1926)
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces8120.html Second type (1926-1927)

............... First type ................................. Second type .......................... Yours (first type) .............

Alternatively the I in DEI is ...
First type it is pointing at a tooth
Second type it is pointing between teeth
P.S. The I in GEORGIVS is pointing at a tooth in both types. :)

Hi,

I tried all the letters and nothing was really evident because of the different sizes of beads, so I started the count. For your information Declan has NOT found your definition either?

Anyway, I'll have another look at it tomorrow!

I do not understand - are you saying I am wrong?!
Because I am not - the three pictures say it all.
And like he said, your documentation has the KM number wrong -
should be 818 not 828 https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/great-britain-1-2-crown-km-818.2-1922-1926-cuid-1129863-duid-1325863

Regards :)
Hi,

I'm not saying you're wrong! Not at all. I'll look at it tomorrow and document it!

In the meantime I've modified the km#!

OK - thanks ! Take care ! :)
Hi,

have a look and judge yourself? To me it looks the same, no? I didn't change the text, of course. Yesterday I really had a look allover, but today I'll try the letters and signs one by one.

Hi,

I got it, I think, please tell me if you agree?

Better, but is wrong lower left - still says 828.
The title now says 818 correctly.
Hi,

so you accept the change in the definition from what you thought, to what is actually provable (sorry, if this sounds provoking, it isn't).

Here is the modified documentation

'so you accept the change in the definition from what you thought, to what is actually provable '

What ??

And NO - it is NOT changed - did you not read what I wrote -
it STILL wrongly says KM#828.2 on lower left.
It should be KM#818.2 like the heading.
OK ?

I'm sorry, but your suggestion of the I from the DEI was wrong!

OK, brother?
