You may or may not have heard of this small village in Wales.
It holds claim to the longest place name in Europe, and second just to a hill in New Zealand.
It was basically a class inside joke for me a few years back. Only one person could actually pronounce the name correctly.
And since I’m visiting the British Isles, I though it would be a great idea to go here. After all, it’s just two hours by train, one way. I came here literally just for the giggles.

Not a lot in the way of tourism, but there are a few souvenir shops around. The biggest tourist spot is literally just the train station, with the ridiculously long name on it.

Now that this is down, next up, a small village in Austria you may have heard of.

Keep looking! ;-)

I have heard of that name, and I think on envelopes it can be shortened to Llanfair P G 8)

I love how casually he said it, probably took a lot of practice.
If you're interested, the second one is Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu. I'm one of the few people I know who can pronounce all of it!

The town's name apparently translates to:
St Mary's church of the pool of the white hazels over against the pool of St Tysilio Cave.
:D

Oddly specific, but Bangkok's is still more majestic in my opinion:
Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit

or
The city of angels, the great city, the residence of the Emerald Buddha, the impregnable city (unlike Ayutthaya) of God Indra, the grand capital of the world endowed with nine precious gems, the happy city, abounding in an enormous Royal Palace that resembles the heavenly abode where reigns the reincarnated god, a city given by Indra and built by Vishnukarn.

I like to think that he’s practised it and became a weatherman and waited all his life for that moment.

At first I thought it was a "mistake" in the title and was about to delete it :O

Ah, yes, the beautiful language of Welsh. Not often everyday do you see four L's in a row within a word.

Also, happy seeing the Free discussion section becoming freer and freer by the day!

I love coins, both old and precious and also change coins. If its round and shiny, it will garner my interest. I also collect stamps and have an abiding interest in History, Archaeology,  and Social Issues.  I also worship the musical god Prince.
