Today Numista just passed an exceptional milestone: 100,000 coin types are referenced in the catalogue of world coins. A big thank you to all contributors!

​That is 100 000th entry, not 100 000th coin, as some were deleted along the way. ;)

Actually it's pretty easy to find the 100000th coin. Since the current index is 115329 and right now there are 100241 coins and in the last 241 coins added there is just one invalid entry the winner should be the coin (token in this case) with the index 115087. :wiz:

My little Roman coin https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces115062.html was added on 18th June by Numista member Pejounet on my behalf and must have been around 99,990 and some I guess in the catalogue - but does anyone know is there an estimate of how many coins there have been in existence?

​Probably few millions. Definition of coin differs as well what is a variety and what is new coin.
