Singapore - Entry into service of a new series of coins. This is Singapore's third series, which replaces the last issued in 1985. It has the same inscriptions. However, the new coin have larger numerals and different motifs. The 5 cent coin features the Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, the 10 cents features public housing, the 20 cents, the Changi Airport, the 50, the port of Singapore, and finally the $1 coin features the Merlion. Only 50 cent and the dollar have modified dimension. That of the 50 cents is smaller and that of dollar more. Note that the $1 coin is bimetallic now. Finally, it has a laser microetching representing the Vanda 'Miss Joaquim', an element similar to the one on the Canadian new generation $1 and $2 coins.
