The Royal Canadian Mint has issued a huge quantity of commemorative coins for the Olympic Winter Games held in Vancouver since February 12.
Among them, a collection of twelve 25-cents coins circulates in Canada. Struck from 2007 to 2009, they all have about the same obverse which displays the portrait of queen Elizabeth II and the logo of Vanconver Oympic or Paralympic Games.
Reverses are all distinct, though there is a unity of style, with a maple leaf in the background. Ten coins display each one of the fifteen olympic sports. Two of the five paralympic sports are also represented: wheelchair curling and ledge hockey.
