This Medal was issued by the Herald Sun Newspaper in 1996. The Herald Sun is a daily newspaper based in Melbourne, Australia, published by The Herald and Weekly Times, a subsidiary of News Corp Australia, itself a subsidiary of News Corp.

This Medal was part of a Seventeen Medal Set that was able to be placed in an album. The Medals were celebrating the Centenary of the Australian Football League. Sixteen Australian Rules Football Clubs were each represented.
