In the center is an image of 1 Deutsche Mark from 1990. Above the inscription D-MARK WIRD ZAHLUNGSMITTEL. Below is the date July 1, 1990. On this day, the "Treaty on the Establishment of an Economic, Monetary and Social Union" entered into force, the West German mark became the only means of payment.
