Comments

In this issue's first story, Superman versus Luthor, Superman comes to the rescue of Metropolis, shaken by its first earthquake! Superman joins the rescue effort, and Clark Kent later discovers that a powerful new laser weapon, coveted by none other than his enemy Luthor, is the cause of the quake. The evil genius challenges Superman to a battle between our hero's Kryptonian powers and Luthor's scientific weapons: if Superman wins, Luthor will admit defeat, but if Superman loses, the hero in the red cape will have to stop fighting crime. Superman then performs incredible feats. He outstrips supersonic aircraft in speed, makes leaps that take him beyond the limits of the stratosphere and even survives a grenade explosion. But the fight serves merely as a distraction, allowing Luthor's henchman to steal the device. Will Superman find Luthor? Will he get his hands on the laser before it becomes even more destructive? It will take another show of superhuman strength to save the day...
