Ruhla was divided along Erbstrom river. The western part belonged to Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach until 1920, the eastern part belonged to Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (until November 1918) resp. the state of Gotha (November 1918-1920). In 1920, both became part of Thuringia and united. There were two separate administrations before, but the Notgeld was a joint issue.
