Comments

The Cooper (De Kuiper).

This is one of twelve medals, based on the etches made by Jan Luyken and his son Caspar in the 17th century, published in “De Spiegel van 't menschelyk bedryf”. Each craft was accompanied by a rhyme, describing the craft pictured. The etches are reproduced on the obverse of the medals; the rhymes on the reverse.

The twelve medals were issued as a complete set, in a wooden box, and were sold by the Royal Dutch Mint at a price of Fl. 345,- per set.
