Obverse

Depicted is the Order of Bohdan Khmelnitsky, 1st class, a Soviet award from the Great Patriotic War. Established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on October 10, 1943. The Order was awarded to commanders and soldiers of the Red Army and Navy, leaders of partisan detachments and partisans who demonstrated particular determination and skill in operations to defeat the enemy, high patriotism, courage and selflessness in the struggle to liberate Soviet land from the German invaders.
