Schlafhaus (Dormitory)
A dormitory was a common type of accommodation that served as a place for miners to sleep during the working week. These dormitories were built in the 19th century by state-owned mines. In this context, they were known as miners' houses.
Dormitories were also built in the iron industry to provide accommodation for workers who came from more distant places.
